My main research area is the coalescence of binary neutron stars and the subsequent evolution. For this, I carry out numerical simulations on supercomputers. In detail, my interests include
- Modeling the first binary neutron star merger observation
- Gravitational waves
- Mass ejection and kilonova
- Black hole formation
- Magnetic field structure and Short Gamma Ray Bursts
- Neutron star matter equation of state
- Merger of rotating neutron stars
The video shows the results of such a simulation. The white surface represents dense matter, while the colored transparent surfaces represent matter at lower densities. The resulting gravitational wave signal is shown in the overlay.
